Image Synthesis
For my final project, I decided that I would try to render a caustic on a
black surface in a dark room. For this I borrowed a 2 inch diameter glass
sphere. I used a flashlight which I have modeled as tungsten. I have
modeled the light as a spherical glass. The 2 inch diameter glass seemed to
have a refractive index around 1.45,
Unfortunately, I took many pictures of the caustic and they never
appeard on camera as I thought they appeared in real life. Faced with this
dilemma I proceeded anyway. I rendered the final image with about 40000
samples which took about 4 hours.
