Well, I've implemented a new entry script and a backup script to help me automate some of my scripting. This is the first test of that. Let's see how it goes.

The competition was yesterday. It went well. Our site is pretty smooth. Its the central site that has all the problems. In actuality there were a couple of things that I felt like I should be very upset about. For one, some of our problems were not judged for over an hour. For another, other sites started something like two hours later than our site. I don't think that should be acceptable when these other sites can look on the web and figure out which problems were the easiest to solve. Hopefully there is enough "conversations" that this won't be allowed to happen again. In any case, the day is over and one of our teams solved two problems, while the other solved one. We are happy that they solved the ones they solved, but again it might be better if we could perhaps rank. Sooner or later it will happen I s'pose. I think maybe we'll concentrate on using trees the next time we have practices. It seems like this could give them a leg up on some of the dictionary problems. In other news, its Sunday. I finally get a day off. I've been working 6 day weeks and then some with all this house business. So, I'll be happy to vegetate at home and watch the Ravens and the Skins I s'pose. Things are moving along for the house. The owner of the storage unit I'm renting recently called to harass me because my insurance company did not pay them yet. Anyway, I hope that gets resolved soon. For the most part I've been just running myself into the ground trying to get house stuff, school stuff, research stuff and insurance stuff all taken care of. Wild wild life that I have or something. In any case, the birthday and the thanksgiving is coming up soon so that should be a welcome respite from all this mess. I almost settled on the bday in fact. How interesting that would have been. In any case, that's all from me for now.

Yes, it is the AM! I slept from something like 9:15 until 12:45 and now I'm not tired at all for whatever reason. I feel like I need to sleep and that I should be sleeping, but I was unable to get back to sleep for an hour, so I logged on. My realtor had written back and we're proceeding with termite inspection and choosing a title company and the like. I need to remember to call my title lawyer and to call my mortgage company. I need to figure out what direction to go on home owner's insurance as well. Still haven't heard back about the items on the house that we asked ot be fixed. Anyway, I wish I could go back to sleep, but that's the way it is sometimes I guess. I've been in a creative mood lately. Wanting to write. I should figure out a way to facilitate my writing. Perhaps I should make a grand outline. Should I do this on paper? I think it would be a lot less useful on paper. However, when I get creative, I have this need to use paper rather than digital resources. I wonder what that's about. Perhaps its part of how I deal with work vs. pleasure. Its an interesting divide in any case. I don't have any new books to read either, so I've been thinking of remedying that one. Anyway, that's probably enough babble for now. The faculty retreat for work was today, so I'm probably just trying to settle down from that experience. In any case, that's all for now.

The home inspection went about as I had thought, or so I'd like to think. There were several issues of concern that we will ask them to take care of. Some people seem more excited about the fact that I'm getting a house than I do. That's a little strange to me, but I like the positive energy at least. Someone is stealing other people's food out of the freezer at work. I've been thinknig of ways we might be able to catch whoever is responsible when a strange thought came to me. Do I want to know who's doing it? I guess I probably do since I really don't want my food to be stolen any time soon. Anyway, there's still not much to report personally, so I'll be off.

Home inspection is today. Still kinda hard to believe that I'd be a home owner by the end of November, but I can't really say I'm worried or too excited about it. Today is another advising day so I'm using this "day off" to sit at work and do a little bit of work on my campaign and other personal web pages. I also checked on my thesis editor stuff. That stuff needs to be over and done with ASAP. Its taking forever. In any case, its only a minor nuisance. Turns out I'm going to be teaching an 8:30am MWF class again next semester. Apparently my predecessor taught those all the time. I guess there is something to say about getting your course over and done with, but it really is early. I think my students are the most receptive in my TR 2:30pm course. I guess its some combo of time and subject matter. In any case, that's all that's going on in my world.

Turns out am going to go to my brother's for today. Watch the Skins and the Ravens and play some video games. Perhaps watch some racing. Cook a large dinner - all that. Haven't been going up there much, so haven't seen him as much as I could. Anyway, that's all the news there is from me.

Not much going on for Halloween this year, but I have spent a large amount of today figuring out some javascript to handle the menuing on my pages. Yesterday I css'd on most of my pages, so updating the feel of my pages should be much easier. As a first entry into the weblog, this is kinda boring, but I felt it would be a nice place to start. That is, on the day before Halloween. The settlement for the house is listed at the end of November, so work progresses towards meeting that deadline.
