Final Project Proposals Hand-In #1 Due Monday, 10/10 CSI 394 has a capstone project. Your grade for this course is almost entirely wrapped up in evaluation and creation of this project. This comes in the form of the write-ups, code and presentations. Thus, you'll want to give it some attention. This assignment is for your project proposal. When completed, there should be no question about the scope and use of your project. Details of implementation and GUI will be left to future assignments, but a description of what a user and the app can accomplish should be fully detailed. Your first paragraph should be a great sales pitch. There is no word count or page minimum. However, this document should not exceed 5 pages and I anticipate it will take a bit less. Your grade will be based on how well you do the things in the "DO" column below. DO: - Write an awesome, non-technical first paragraph that describes your project. - Give an overall and more in-depth description of your project. - Walk the reader through all aspects of using your project. - Describe the purpose/use of all screens that will be needed in your system. - Describe 5 Android/iOS items (use bullets) you anticipate needing to learn and incorporate. This is easier than you think. Anything you need to google search (related to Android) that is beyond the scope of demos from class can fit here (so basic LinearLayout isn't something you can use, but how to use listView might be). You may not be able to come up with 5 concrete examples right away without help. So, finish the rest early and ask for help. I can help you brainstorm about topics that may belong here (or that we can add to your project to help it belong there. DO NOT: - Don't lay out the screens or desribing in great detail what's on each screen(s). - Don't spend time drawing any screen (this will happen in the future) - Don't give more than 5 pages of description. Be succint and direct. If you're having trouble comping up with an idea for a final project, then use the following list for inspiration. ========================================================================================== Some extra ideas: ========================================================================================== Monitoring stats from your phone and displaying the results in a useful format. Could extend to wearable devices and grab biometric data. Workout assist app. You select your equipment from available equipment. Enter reps and weights. Enter your own other stats. Could have multiple profiles perhaps. Provides a display over time. Collect data from instagram that are correlated by a search term. Enter a few instagram names to ground your search. Use Instagram to tag Google Maps locations of a user's picture locations. Collect images and locations of a user from twitter and tag Google Maps locations accordingly. Quiz App. A tool for xxxx class to help students prepare for exams in that course. (Might I suggest CSI 201!) Student self tracker. Checks GPS coords to make sure student is actually in class a number of minutes early. Sounds alarms otherwise. (WAKE UP - You only have 10 minutes). Can be used to develop task and homework scheduling. Inventory management system. Web-site stat tracker/display Software Development Cycle Estimation: User and Master support. PERT/Wideband Delphi Weather - so many aspects here apply (like earthquakes) ========================================================================================== Community inspired Apps (folks in our community have asked for and/or will pay for): ========================================================================================== RideShare! Someone in our community has asked for this. Information app (based on GPS). Pokemon go made folks aware of so many new things in their local regions. What if there were an app dedicated just to this. Could pull census data, historical data and more. Bluetooth communication with arduino (or microcontrolled devices) to collect all data from many devices within reach.
